Our Beginning

It was the year of 1865. Adamjee Lukmanjee, a dynamic and resolute young gentleman set-sail for yet unknown shores of Ceylon – now Sri Lanka. As he took his first tentative steps into the tumultuous world of commerce, little did he know that he would one day forge an epic commercial, real-estate and plantation empire. It would come to be known as ADAMJEE LUKMANJEE & SONS.

Over the decades, his business expanded into commodities and foodstuff. He became the owner and successfully managed over 5,000 acres of tea, rubber and coconut plantations. The year 1922 saw Mr. Adamjee and his sons Gulamhusein and Mohammedally, launch their foray into the world of real estate development.

Mixed development projects in the City of Colombo such as Adamjee Square, Lukmanjee Square (home of Unilever and the Bata Shoe Company), housing projects on Adams Avenue, Palmyrah Avenue, Fountain House Lane, Princess Gate, Turret Road, to name a few, today stand testimony to their endeavours and outstanding success in the world of real estate.
